PANO – Located about 45km west of National Highway No.34, Nguyen Binh market is unique in the mountainous district of Nguyen Binh, Cao Bang province.

As the district is in a remote area and few people know about it, the market still keeps its unique and pristine features, deeply imbued with the culture of the minority ethnic groups of the land. These very characteristics of the market attract both domestic and foreign tourists.

Below are a number of images of the market.

Nguyen Binh market is held regularly on the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, 23rd, and 28th day of a lunar month. Many people from all ethnic groups (mostly the Nung, the Tay, the Hmong, and the Kinh… people) in the district gather at the market to barter their goods.
The market is not only the place where people barter their products, but also for cultural exchanges and friendship. Agricultural specialties are sold in different areas of the market.
