The Can Tho Heritage Marathon was held for the first time in December 2019, attracting the participation of over 2,000 athletes inside and outside the country.

After the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s marathon attracted 5,000 athletes to compete in four categories: 5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km.

According to General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation Nguyen Manh Hung, the organizing panel decided to add 42km distance in this year’s competition. During the tournament, the athletes ran across famous landscapes of the city such as Ninh Kieu Wharf, Cai Rang Floating Market, Lo Vong Cung.

At the same time, the Can Tho Heritage Marathon was expected to further popularize Can Tho’s tourism potential and encourage the sport movement of local people.

As a result, athlete Hoang Van Hon won the competition in men category with 2 hours 50 minutes 59 seconds, while Tran Thi Hoa ranked first in women category with 3 hours 20 minutes 27 seconds.
