PANO – Vietnamese team won more ten gold medals at the final day (October 2nd) of the 5th Asian Beach Games (ABG5).

At the traditional martial arts, the host bagged five gold medals, including Nguyen Thi Ai Van (women’s under 48kg), Vo Thi Phuong Hieu (women’s open), Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai (women’s 52-56 kg), Bui Le Tan Dung (men’s 60-65kg) and Nguyen Minh Hieu (men’s 65-70kg).

In Vovinam events, Vietnam scored 275 points to win two gold medals thanks to the excellent performance of athletes Lam Dong Duong and Tran The Thuong in the men’s dual machete form final. Meanwhile, Le Thi Thuong and Mai Thi Thu Thuy pocketed a gold medal with 276 points in women’s dual sword form category.

The Vietnamese women’s team also defeated China’s team  with scores 20-13, 16-17 and 7-6 in a beach handball match, while Nguyen Thi Nhu Y achieved a golden medal in women’s +72kg Sambo event and Phung Thi Phuong won the beach wood ball final, obtaining another gold.

By the final day, Vietnam has taken the first position with 52 golds, 44 silvers and 43 bronze medals, followed by Thailand with 36 gold, 24 silver, 30 bronze medals and China ranked third with 12 gold, 18 silver and 19 bronze medals.
