UNESCO adopts commemoration of two Vietnamese cultural celebrities
PANO - UNESCO adopted a resolution on November 23 in Paris to honor two Vietnamese cultural celebrities, namely poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu and poetess Ho Xuan Huong.

During the working session on November 23, the 41st UNESCO General Conference approved a list of “Cultural celebrities and historical events for the 2022-2023 period,” including the two Vietnamese cultural celebrities.
In addition, Vietnam’s nominations for commemorating Nguyen Dinh Chieu’s 200th birthday anniversary, Ho Xuan Huong’s 250th birth and 200th death anniversary were approved along with 58 other applications.
According to Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, the nominations must meet the UNESCO’s requirements, especially they must follow UNESCO’s ideas and missions in various fields of education, culture, science, information and communications, and contribute to promoting peace, cultural dialogue, mutual understanding among nations.
Moreover, these nominations must have a considerable influence on other countries across the world.
