The Viet Nam Centre for Protection of Music Copyright recently signed agreements on music copyright fees, worth 3.7 billion VND (over 230,000 USD) in total, with three Ho Chi Minh City-based companies.

Accordingly, Pops Media Inc, a foreign music website whose office is located in Ho Chi Minh City, paid 3.6 billion VND to use Vietnamese songs in the 2008-2009 period.

Meanwhile, the Saigon Trading Cooperative Alliance which is running the Saigon Co.op supermarket chain and Metro Cash & Carry Viet Nam doled out 100 million VND for the right to play music in their supermarkets in 2008.
