The 7th National Sports Festival for Ethnic Minorities 2011, Zone 2, will take place at the Cultural Centre of the central Province of Quang Nam, between July 21st and 25th, with the participation of 750 athletes and coaches from 16 provinces and cities across the country.
The event is jointly held by the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and People’s Committee, the Vietnam Farmers' Association, and the Committee for Ethnic Minorities, under the Government.
The Festival aims to promote physical training and exercise to improve health and cultural life of ethnic minority people, preserve and bring into play their traditional cultural values and tighten unity among them.
Namely, the competitors will compete for 47 sets of medals in eight events of the men’s football, the men’s and women’s volleyball, cross-country race, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, tug-of-war and stilt walking.
