Festival Hue-2008 with the title “Heritage with Integration and Development” will be a big event with hundreds of cultural and unique tourist activities aiming to honour Vietnam’s and Hue’s typical cultural values, according to the Thua Thien-Hue Culture and Information Department.
Especially, there will be a performance to reenact Nguyen Hue’s throne ascension ceremony when he became King "Quang Trung” in Phu Xuan. This is the first time the 220-year-old historical event (1788-2008) will be recreated.
In addition, there will for the first time be a competition for martial arts in the ancient way. This year, the city’s authorities are also planning to exploit Ho Quyen-Voi Re area to organise cultural and royal activities.
Apart from the Hue Royal Art troupe, there will be others from domestic cities, provinces and 22 nations like France, China, Australia, Thailand, Japan, Italy and the United States participating in cultural and arts activities at the festival.
Festival Hue-2008 will be officially opened on June 3, 2008 at Ngo Mon square and closed on the Huong River on June 11.
