Two French citizens, André de Crozet and doctor Marcel, has presented Thua Thien-Hue inhabitants with two rare objects via the Department of Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said Thua Thien-Hue provincial Department of Culture and Information on March 28.

They are the sixth collection of poems composed by King Minh Mang in the nineteenth century and a pastel painting named “Les Morts et les Orphelins” featuring sculptor Diem Phung Thi’s signature. The painting was given to a French friend as present.

The 16.5cmx27.5cm collection of poems written in the Nom language was thought lost for a long time. The collection was retrieved by a legionnaire when the Hue Royal Library when it was set on fire in 1885.

The King Minh Mang’s sixth poem collection has been handed to the Fine Art Museum of the Hue Imperial Palace and the painting is being preserved by the Diem Phung Thi Art Gallery.
