Teams compete in the dug-out boat racing festival.

The festival was part of activities to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Buon Ma Thuot victory and the liberation of Dak Lak province (March 10, 1975 - 2023), the 48th anniversary of Lak district Liberation Day (March 17, 1975 - 2023), and the 48th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - 2023).

The event saw the attendance of 86 athletes from 17 teams in communes of Yang Tao, Brong Krang, Dak Lieng, Lien Son townlet, and Lak Tented Camp. It was among 18 activities of the ongoing eighth Buon Ma Thuot Coffee festival 2023.

According to Nay Y Phu, Chairman of the Lak district People’s Committee and Head of the organizing panel, this year’s festival marked a step forward in preserving and upholding the traditional cultural values of ethnic groups in the district, bringing cultural values back to daily life, contributing to strengthening the great bloc of national unity and raising public awareness of cultural traditions of ethnic groups across the country.

As a result, the team from Lien Son townlet won the first prize, followed by teams from Dak Lieng and Yang Tao communes, respectively.

Elephants at the festival

Within the framework of the festival, the Lak district People’s Committee held various activities, including a ceremony to worship the wharf at Dak Hoa wharf, Chai A village (Dak Phoi commune), a ceremony to pray for health for elephants in Le village (Lien Son townlet), a Gong culture festival, among others.
