The event aimed to mark the 70th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisers in Laos.

Delegates paying tribute to fallen soldiers |
Delegates commemorated Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Lao President Kaysone Phomvihane, the two countries’ martyrs, and expressed deep gratitude towards the Vietnamese volunteer troops and advisers in Laos, as well as Lao troops for their great sacrifices and contributions during the resistance wars for national independence, as well as the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the current period.
The participants also hoped that the two countries will further promote the activities to pay tribute to martyrs and national contributors, especially both sides’ collaboration in the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains of Vietnamese and Lao volunteer soldiers and advisers who sacrificed their lives in Laos.
* President of the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction Saysomphone Phomvihane on December 9 received the representatives of the Central Committee of Vietnam – Laos Friendship Organization who attended the ceremony to pay tribute to martyrs in Laos.
Saysomphone Phomvihane highly appreciated the great contributions of the generations of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisers in Laos to the Lao revolutionary cause, and hoped that the two countries’ officials and troops will continue to expand the two countries' traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation, which have become an invaluable asset of the two nations.
* Earlier, a gathering was held on December 8 with the participation of nearly 500 former Vietnamese volunteer troops and advisers in Laos.
Present at the event were Lao Defense Minister General Chansamone Channhalat and Lao Deputy Defense Minister and Director of the Lao People’s Army’s General Department of Politics Senior Lieutenant General Thongloi Silivong.

Speaking at the event, Gen. Thongloi Silivong expressed his deep gratitude to the great sacrifices and contributions of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisers in Laos, and hoped that troops of the two countries will continue to expand the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations in the current period.
On this occasion, the Association of former Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisers in Laos, in association with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee, presented 500 gifts to Lao martyrs’ relatives, wounded veterans and sick soldiers, and national contributors, and organized various gratitude activities.
