The release was made at a press conference held in Hanoi on October 30 by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).
Speaking at the event, Doan Cong Huynh, Director of the Authority of Foreign Information Service - MIC, said that this year's event aims to mark the 57 years of diplomatic ties and the 42nd anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between the two countries.
Since starting the renewal process, the two countries have gained great achievements in terms of socio-economic development and external relations, contributing to promoting the close cooperation between the two countries in many areas.
It is the second consecutive year the festival has been organized. Last year it was held in Dien Bien province.
The festival will feature a series of activities, including a photo exhibition on Vietnam – Laos special relationship, an economic, culture, and tourism fair, a conference to promote trade, investment, and tourism in Nghe An, and various artistic performances.
This year’s edition will focus on promoting cultural exchange activities to highlight unique cultural features of each country, introducing economic and tourist products, boosting investment, trade, and tourism promotion programs between Vietnam and Laos in general, and among localities sharing the same borderline with Laos in particular.
The festival will offer a chance to promote information dissemination about external relations in border areas. It will raise the awareness and responsibility of local authorities and people for implementing the tasks set by the 12th National Party Congress on firmly safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity; maintaining peace and stability for national development; and raising Vietnam’s position and reputation in the region and the world.
The festival is also an opportunity to promote trade connections between domestic businesses and Nghe An province, thereby contributing to boosting socio-economic development of the province in the renewal process and international integration, Huynh stressed.
