In his opening remarks, Mukdahan Governor Worrayan Boonnarat highlighted that the festival aims to showcase the province’s tourist attractions and distinctive traditional cultural values to international visitors. Beyond its festive atmosphere, the event also carried strong community significance, bringing together the Vietnamese, Chinese and Lao communities alongside Thai residents, thereby contributing to socio-economic cooperation among countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion.
Speaking at the event, Vietnam’s Consul General in Khon Kaen, Dinh Hoang Linh, praised the initiative as a meaningful people-to-people diplomatic activity marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand (1976 - 2026).

On this occasion, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen invited an art troupe from Ho Chi Minh City to perform at the event. Their performances helped deepen the spirit of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand, as well as with other countries in the region, while introducing Vietnamese traditional culture to overseas Vietnamese and international audiences.
During the cultural exchange program, the art troupe presented a new song titled “Vietnam - Thailand: Alluvial Affection,” composed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. The carefully staged performances left a strong impression on overseas Vietnamese, Thai friends and international guests.
The art troupe also paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh by offering incense, visited the Consulate General in Khon Kaen, joined cultural exchange activities and attended a year-end gathering with the Vietnamese community in the province.
Addressing the event, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized that the troupe’s Tet performances reflected the affection and responsibility of the Party, the State and the people at home, as well as of Ho Chi Minh City, toward overseas Vietnamese far from their homeland during the Lunar New Year 2026.

The Consulate General and the overseas Vietnamese community expressed appreciation for the dedication of the officials and artists who performed during Tet, meeting the community’s cultural needs. The Consul General also thanked the Vietnamese community in Khon Kaen for their meaningful support to people in Vietnam recovering from natural disasters in 2025.
As 2026 marks five decades of Vietnam - Thailand diplomatic relations, the role of the overseas Vietnamese community as a heartfelt bridge connecting the peoples of both nations has become even more significant.
