On October 8, in Vientiane, Lao General Secretary and State President Bounnhang Vorachith held a warm reception for the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam. At the reception, Vuong reaffirmed Vietnam’s whole-hearted supports to the renewal in Laos and believed that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Laos would achieve more good results.

The Vietnamese official extended condolences to Laos over the human and property losses caused by the dam collapse in Attapeu province and by recent torrential rains and flooding. He strongly believed that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the Lao people would overcome the disasters’ consequences and resume normal production and life.

On behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, Vuong expressed deep thanks to Laos’ support for Vietnam during its national liberation wars and in the current cause of national construction and defense. He thanked the hosts for sending condolence messages and attending the funerals of former Party General Secretary Do Muoi and State President Tran Dai Quang in Vietnam.

He reaffirmed that Vietnam would do its utmost to foster the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, which has been regarded as the invaluable treasure of the two parties and the two peoples, and the decisive factor for the success of each country’s revolution.

For his part, Lao Party General Secretary and State President Bounnhang Vorachith sent deep condolences to the Party, State and people of Vietnam over the passing away of former General Secretary Do Muoi and President Tran Dai Quang.

He highly appreciated the huge, timely and effective supports of Vietnam for Laos, especially in overcoming consequences of the recent dam collapse. He affirmed that, together with Vietnam, Laos would strongly foster the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity and preserve it as a treasure for future generations of the two peoples.

* The same day, the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam had an official talk with its Lao counterpart. At the meeting, and the two sides agreed to further enhance meetings and exchanges between senior leaders of the two Parties and States. They also agreed upon more information and experience sharing in Party work and political system building, socio-economic development and international integration, collaboration in maintaining political security and social order, and more.
