For the Lao part, Mr. Khamphan Pheuyavong, Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and head of the LPRP’s Central Committee Commission for Information and Education and Mr. Sengphet Houngboungnuang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos to Vietnam, attended the event.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia underlined that the contest on the history of Vietnam-Laos special relationship was a meaningful activity within the framework of the "Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022."

The contest has contributed to giving two countries’ people, young generations, overseas Vietnamese and international friends a better understanding of revolutionary traditions, the history and the significance of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, states, and peoples in the cause of national liberation and building socialism in each country.

In order to promote the meaning and positive spread of the contest and activities in the "Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022," Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia required press agencies to improve the quality of information to further popularize Vietnam-Laos special relations among the two countries’ people and the international community.

Accordingly, the contest on the history of the special Vietnam-Laos relations in 2022 was organized in a form of a weekly online multiple-choice quiz on the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper, the social network VCNet and other press agencies.

Taking place from June 13, 2022 to September 5, 2022, the contest attracted the participation of more than 681 thousand people from the two countries and international friends. After 12 weeks, the organizing panel received nearly 3.4 million entries.

Concluding the contest, the organizers presented 12 first, 24 second, and 60 third prizes. Also, the CPC’s Commission for Information and Education granted certificates of merit to outstanding localities and units to honor their contribution to the success of the contest.

During the special art program, the delegates and the audience enjoyed impressive art performances spotlighting the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
