At the ACAMM-24, Chiefs of ASEAN Armies exchanged view on issues of mutual concern and agreed on measures to promote cooperation to respond to common security issues, especially non-traditional challenges such as anti-piracy, trans-national crime prevention, mitigation of natural disaster consequences, disease prevention, and cyber-security for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
Speaking at the event, General Nghia highly appreciated the theme of the meeting in the context of the complicated developments of regional and international situation. He emphasized that the army is directly involved in activities within ASEAN's defense and military cooperation mechanisms and helps enhance friendship, understanding, trust, and confidence among ASEAN member states as well as with partner countries, contributing to maintaining ASEAN's centrality and preserving the peaceful and stable environment in the region to effectively realize the ASEAN Community Vision 2025.

The head of the Vietnamese delegation affirmed that as a responsible member of the international community and ASEAN, the Vietnam People's Army has been, is, and will continue to responsibly participate in cooperation activities among ASEAN militaries in general and ASEAN armies in particular. On this occasion, General Nghia invited the Chiefs of ASEAN Armies to attend the second Vietnam International Defense Expo and the military band exchange activities in Vietnam in 2024.

Within the framework of the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia also held bilateral meetings with heads of the delegations of Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Brunei to discuss measures to strengthen cooperation among armies. In the meetings, heads of the delegations highly appreciated the position and role of the Vietnam People's Army and its outcomes of bilateral ties and expressed their desire to enhance cooperation in training, U.N. peacekeeping operations, military medicine, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief, based on the needs and capabilities of each party.
