At the meeting, the Lao diplomat laid stress on the great and comprehensive achievements in such areas as politics, economy, diplomacy and defense-security gained by the Party, State, and people of Vietnam over the past eight decades. She emphasized that Vietnam is among reputable nations with increasing position in the region and the world.

Speaking highly of the bilateral defense cooperation, she underlined the cooperation in personnel training and border protection.

An overview of the reception

She took this time to extend greetings to all generals, officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People’s Army on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day. She expressed her belief that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos would constantly develop in more intensive, effective and practical manner, benefiting the people of each country and contributing to regional and global peace, stability, cooperation and development.

Respectfully sending thanks to the Lao Ambassador for the deep sentiment and best regards , Gen. Chien confirmed that Vietnam and Laos are neighbors. He stressed that the Party, State, people and military of Vietnam always remember the great, wholehearted and effective support from their Lao counterparts in the past struggle for national salvation and in the ongoing Fatherland building and protection. In any circumstances, Vietnam always attaches importance to preserving and constantly developing its special and faithful relations with Laos.

The Vietnamese general expressed gratitude to the Lao Party, State and MND for accepting the invitation to take part in the 80th National Day celebration and sending servicemen from the Lao People’s Army to the grand parade at the celebration.

He highlighted the celebration as a political event carrying important significance to express deep gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, veteran revolutionaries, heroes, martyrs, and those who sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom and to international friends and progressive people around the world, including those from Laos, for their great support to the revolutionary cause of Vietnam.

He highly appreciated the bilateral defense ties, saying that it continues to be one of the important pillars in the two countries’ relations and to develop intensively, substantively, and effectively, contributing to each country’s Fatherland construction and defense.

He was also delighted at the recognition of the Lao Politburo of the Truong Son – Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos as a national relic during the Lao visit by Vietnam’s Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan. He also highly praised the attention, support and effective coordination with the Vietnamese side by the Ambassador herself and the staff from the Lao Embassy and Lao Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam.

Gen. Chien hoped that the Lao Embassy and Defense Attaché Office would continue their close coordination to successfully carry out major cooperation activities in the remaining time of this year, particularly the annual meeting among the defense ministers of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and the joint exercise on search and rescue among the three militaries.
