Notably, the Vietnamese N.A. issued Resolution No.136/2024/QH15 on organizing urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for city development, which allows Da Nang to consider forming the first free trade zone in Vietnam.
The zone is expected to connect trade between Vietnam and regional countries, including Laos, he said.
Quang added that the city is actively cooperating with Lao localities and strongly promoting the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between it and five provinces in South Central Laos.
In particular, Da Nang is also focusing on training high-quality human resources for Laos and granting more scholarships to Lao students.
The city commits to promote the exchange of experts in the fields of agriculture, forestry, industry and trade, and cooperation with localities in the East-West Economic Corridor, he said, adding that in the coming time, Da Nang will increase delegation exchanges and boost friendship exchanges with Lao localities.
For his part, Lao Vice N.A. Chairman Sommad Pholsena said that he is very interested in Da Nang's development process as well as the new directions and orientations of the Politburo and the National Assembly of Vietnam for the city, especially regarding the urban government model.
Lao localities wish to learn from Da Nang’s development models and experience, he stated, hoping that Da Nang will continue to have policies to support human resources training for the provinces of South Central Laos.
Previously, the Lao delegation paid visits to the Chu Lai Economic Zone, Truong Hai Group, and Hoa Tho Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company, during which Sommad Pholsena said he expects more businesses and economic groups in Da Nang and Vietnam in general will invest in Lao localities.
