PANO - The action group of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) held a conference on July 8th in Vientiane, Laos, to review its set plans and roll out its future missions, with the participation of representatives from its six member countries. Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) Ho Quang Loi led the Vietnam delegation to take part in the event.

At the event, all delegates agreed that the confederation should enhance its operations comprehensively, especially in sharing information through social networks (Facebook), contributing to attracting more journalists to the organization and expand its reputation in the ASEAN community.

As CAJ's President in the 2015-2017 period, VJA proposed to organize a training course themed "Effects of climate change in Vietnam" for CAJ's members in September 2016. This will provide an opportunity for regional journalists to meet and share experience, contributing to promoting mutual understanding among the ASEAN community. Additionally, VJA also proposed to launch a press award entitled "ASEAN - A community" for CAJ member journalists in December 2016.

At the conference, delegates discussed the confederation expansion with the participation of press agencies from Cambodia and Myanmar. They also hoped that VJA would contribute to promoting cooperation between CAJ and the ASEAN Secretariat. They agreed to hold a meeting of CAJ's board of directors in late November this year in Jakarta (Indonesia) and the 19th General Assembly of CAJ in Bangkok (Thailand).

CAJ hoped these activities would promote mutual understanding, truth and solidarity among member countries.
