The event was a practical activity to mark the 25th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam Coast Guard (August 28, 1998 - 2023), the 10th founding anniversary of the Coast Guard Training Center (April 23, 2013 - 2023), and the 48th anniversary of the Southern liberation and national reunification day (April 30, 1975 - 2023).

The contest attracted the participation of 100 students from five secondary schools in Ha Dong district and saw the encouragement of more than 1,000 teachers and students. During the event, participating students answered yes/no, multiple choice, and gap filling questions. 

According to the center’s Party Secretary and Political Commissar Senior Colonel Nguyen Duc Do, the contest aimed to enrich teachers, students, local officials, and people’s knowledge related to Vietnam’s sea and islands, Vietnam Law on Sea in 2012, Law on Vietnam Coast Guard in 2018, harms of drug, school violence, and tradition of the coast guard force, thus igniting their patriotism and love for sea and islands. The event was also to enhance citizens’ responsibility for protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands and strengthening solidarity between coast guard troops and teachers, students, and locals.

Participating teachers and students saw that the contest was of significance. Pham Tien Dat, a sixth grader of Le Quy Don Secondary School, said that the contest enabled him to approach new valuable knowledge. According to Bui Thi Kim Chi, a student of Le Quy Don Secondary School, the contest was a practical and effective education method. It updated students with new knowledge about sea and islands through questions.

At the event, the Coast Guard Training Center presented ten bicycles and 50 gifts, worth VND 25 million in total, to needy students with good academic results.
