Accordingly, 87 students from Yen Bac Secondary School actively participated in a writing contest on the Vietnam's seas and islands, including knowledge of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the Law of the Sea of Vietnam in 2012, the ordinance of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the Vietnam Coast Guard, and other related information.

The contest achieved good results, bringing about practical meaning to promote information dissemination on seas, islands and tasks of the Vietnam Coast Guard as well as drug impacts so as to prevent drug addiction and drug-related crimes among students and local people. The contest also aimed to build up patriotism, raise people's responsibility for protecting national sovereignty over seas and islands, contributing to enhancing the solidarity and friendship between teachers and local people.

On the occasion, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command presented 20 gifts to policy beneficiary families in Yen Bac commune, 10 bicycles and 10 scholarships to needy students in the school. Besides, the Military Youth Board also gave 20 scholarships to poor students with good academic records in the province.
