The competition took place in a bustling atmosphere with diverse, creative, and attractive dissemination forms.

Proud of national sea and islands

At the event, the exhibition space of Tien Giang province with the theme "Joining hands to protect Vietnam's sea and islands" attracted a large number of visitors. The provincial dissemination team brought to the event the province’s "specialties" with eye-catching layout, showing the colors of culture and tourism of the province. The space showed a boat carrying many specialties, such as coconuts and Hoa Loc mangoes which are among the world's top clean fruits, Ngu Hiep durian, Go Cong crab sauce. In addition, other images about the national sea and islands were placed impressively. Notably, the sweet voice of orator Ngo Tuyet Hang made the exhibition space of the team from Tien Giang province more attractive to viewers during the four-day contest.

Meanwhile, the team from Thai Nguyen province showcased the locality’s specialty with young tea leaves and tea products on a wooden boat. Along both sides of the entrance to the exhibition space were photos of the province’s leaders visiting and gift presentation to naval soldiers and fishermen in the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago. In addition, the Then singing welcomed visitors to the space, demonstrating the deep sentiments of ethnic groups in Thai Nguyen province towards the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa Islands.

This year, the "Vietnam's sea and islands" competition had three parts, namely a car parade, a singing contest, and an exhibition.

According to Nguyen Quoc Huy, Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism - the organizer, the participation of 46 teams from all over the country in the competition in Hai Phong was impressive and demonstrated the spread of the dissemination on Vietnam's sea and islands. Attentively, the event attracted many participating teams coming from provinces without sea and islands such as Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Son La, Bac Ninh, and Binh Phuoc. It proved that the dissemination on the sea and islands was always paid due attention to by provinces.

Moreover, many performances were imbued with the cultural identity of each region and locality, showed the love for the homeland, country, national pride and determination to firmly safeguard national sovereignty over the sea and islands.

“The contest has contributed to promoting the spirit of mutual affection of the coastal communities; ensure people's right to access, participate, benefit and show responsibility towards the sea in a fair and equal manner,” said Nguyen Quoc Huy, adding that it helped actualize the resolution on the strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Promoting value and potential of the sea and islands

In this contest, the team from the host city highlighted the strengths of the sea and islands and the action programs and development of the sea and islands. Hai Phong boats a coastline of more than 125km, in which Bach Long Vi Island plays the role as a front island in ensuring national defense and security at sea. The island is aimed to become a logistic center for fisheries and search and rescue in Northern region. Moreover, Hai Phong is home to beautiful Do Son peninsula with dozens of hills; Hon Dau Island; Tuong Long tower; Wharf K15 - the departure of No-number ships which made the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail at sea.

Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of Hai Phong city's Department of Culture and Sports, said that in the development strategy, Hai Phong is oriented to be the key to the country's marine economy development with three main pillars: high-tech industry; seaport - logistics; tourism - trade. Hai Phong port is the largest port of the Northern region. These confirm that Hai Phong a city strong from the sea and rich from the sea. Therefore, the dissemination on the sea and islands has received due attention from the city and activities to promote sea and islands’ potential and advantages have been actively carried out, attracting people from all walks of life.

Director of Thanh Hoa Cinema and Culture Center Nguyen Thi Mai Huong said that with the message "Island is home, sea is homeland," Thanh Hoa, with 102km of sea passing through six districts, towns and cities, will bring into play the province's strengths, contributing to preserving and developing sea and islands in the coming time and reaping new achievements in developing Thanh Hoa until 2030, with a vision to 2045, forming development quadrilateral, including Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, with highlights placed on marine economy, marine tourism, and marine urban areas.
