Vietnam International Travel Mart wraps up in Hanoi
PANO – The Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2017, themed “Hanoi – Vietnam’s Destination for Tourists”, officially wrapped up on April 9 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace in Hanoi.
The four-day mart saw the participation of over 672 enterprises with 465 booths from 25 countries and territories from around the world. Accordingly, this year’s fair attracted 3,000 businesses and about 61,000 people, who came to the fair to learn about domestic and foreign tourism markets, seek business opportunities or purchase travel products. According to reports of 18 travel agencies, 20,070 international and domestic tours were sold during the fair, benefiting them about VND 212 billion.
Within the framework of VITM 2017, the organizing panel held eight seminars and seven press conferences to introduce travel products, discuss and propose many practical solutions to the State on developing tourism into a spearhead economic industry of the country.
In addition to such popular booths as Vietravel, Saigontourist, Hanoitourist, the fair also welcomed travel agencies from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, the US and more. Especially, the International Street Food Festival was held for the first time in Vietnam with many street dishes cooked by famous chefs from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Mexico, Italy, the Philippines and Vietnam that brought a new face for this year’s VITM.
In the closing ceremony, the organizing panel awarded prizes to the most impressive booths, firms with effective promotion programs and presented medals to active participants at the event.
On the occasion, the Vietnam Tourism Association also held a ceremony to honor top ten travel agencies in running overseas tours in 2017.
