The northern province of Thai Nguyen has completed most of preparations for the second International Tea Festival slated for November 9-11.
This year’s festival will draw the participation of 84 delegations, including three foreign and 24 from other provinces that grow, process and market tea products to Thai Nguyen, the country’s largest tea producing locality.
A wide range of activities are scheduled for the festival, including a tea culture festival, a tea carnival, conferences on tea products and tourism promotion, the Miss Tea Land Contest, a photo exhibition featuring the beauty of Vietnam’s land, people and Thai Nguyen tea, and a market introducing specialties of Vietnamese ethnic groups.
According to Pham Thai Hanh, permanent deputy head of the organising board, more traffic sign posts and lighting systems have been installed in Thai Nguyen city.
The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has designed tours to sites like Dinh Hoa historical complex, Nui Coc Lake and to tea trade villages and areas like Trai Cai, Vo Tranh and Tuc Tranh.
The biennial festival, co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Thai Nguyen provincial People’s Committee, aims to promote tea products, growers and the drinking culture of Thai Nguyen and Vietnam in general.
It also helps enhance cooperation in tea production, processing and consumption between Thai Nguyen and other provinces, as well as between domestic and foreign growers, processors and consumers.
