Tourism officials from nine countries – Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Peru and Vietnam – are participating in the three-day forum.

After the forum, the RoK will begin a nine-day training program on June 28 for officials from the participating countries, including lectures from local tourism experts as well as field surveys.

Keum Gi-hyung, head of the ministry's tourism policy bureau, said developing countries have shown interest in the RoK’s tourism development experience, which saw the number of foreign tourist skyrocket from some 10,000 in 1960 to 13 million in 2017.

He hoped tourism event will contribute to the countries’ economic development.
