Ha Long Bay ranks 14th among world’s 100 most beautiful heritage sites
PANO – Newsweek magazine (US) reported that UNESCO had ranked Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay 14th in its list of 100 most beautiful World Heritage Sites, including both natural and man-made wonders around the world.
“Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site’s outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological value,” described Newsweek.
