Deputy Director of the department Nguyen Lam Nguyen said the province has paid due attention to developing MICE, establishing extensive partnerships with both domestic and foreign travel firms to promote tourism potential in such key markets as China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and India.
Local businesses, he noted, are fully prepared with facilities and services to host large-scale conferences, exhibitions, and sightseeing tours for domestic and international visitors alike.
Nguyen said that MICE tourism plays a crucial role in the locality’s tourism development while filling the gap during the domestic low travel season, helping Quang Ninh stay on track to welcome 20 million visitors this year, including at least 4.5 million international arrivals.
A representative from Three International said Quang Ninh boasts stunning coastline, cultural diversity, and hospitality, adding the group will consider hosting future conferences in Vietnam.
Over the recent past, the province has successfully hosted several large-scale MICE events, drawing both domestic and international participants. It has invested heavily in infrastructure, upgraded service quality, diversified offerings, and strengthened promotional campaigns, while learning experience from other destinations across the nation and worldwide.
While the final quarter of the year typically sees fewer domestic tourists, it is considered the “golden season” for MICE tourism. With more than 20,000 hotel rooms across 1,380 lodging facilities, 32 tours, and 78 tourist attractions, Quang Ninh has the ideal conditions to develop MICE tourism.
In the first seven months of the year, the province hosted 14.6 million tourist arrivals, including 2.6 million foreigners. Tourism revenue in the period was estimated at 36.7 trillion VND (1.39 billion USD).
