Chinese tourists saved in Ha Long Bay
PANO - All 31 Chinese tourists, a tour guide and four crewmembers aboard a tourist ship, were brought ashore safely after it collided with a cargo barge in Ha Long Bay, the northern province of Quang Ninh, on Dec. 24.

The accident took place at 12 pm near Ti Top Island when the tourist ship, Hong Long 3109, was on its way to the port after touring around the bay, and the barge, coded Hung Vuong HP3888, was en route from Hai Phong city to Hon Net seaport in Quang Ninh.
According to the local authority, the barge was transporting about 1,700 tons of stone when the incident occurred.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vu Van Dien directed relevant forces to swiftly deal with the incident, and support the tourists and crewmembers. The salvage of the sunk ship and investigation into the accident are underway.
