The same day, in the morning, the city’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee kick-started a meaningful program under the theme “Spring of Solidarity - Tet of Compassion” to ensure a cozy Tet for the needy in the upcoming lunar New Year.

As planned, nearly 79,700 gifts, worth from VND 400,000 to VND 2 million each, drawn from the “For the poor,” “For national sea and islands - For the front-line of the Fatherland” Foundation, the city’s Relief Fund, and contributions by units and enterprises, will be presented. In this festival, the city plans to spend more than VND 43.3 billion to care for needy local people.

Recipients are disadvantaged policy beneficiary families and households, poor and near-poor households, orphans, workers, laborers and families facing difficulties due to the great impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City.

Apart from needy local people, gifts will be handed over to on-duty military units in safeguarding national sea, islands and borders and to charitable, humanitarian, and social institutions.
