Speaking at the event, Assoc., Prof. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Director of the Vietnam Friendship Hospital, said, “The Vietnam Friendship Hospital made very early employment of the 64-slice CT scan technology to improve the quality of cardiac disease treatment; however, the system still has some drawbacks. In order to solve these problems to meet professional requirements, we need to acquire 256-slice CT and GE Revolution CT scanners.”

Multiple-slice CT scan technology plays an important role in the diagnosis and monitoring of cardiac diseases. Designed with revolutionary high-speed scanning capability, Revolution CT scanners deliver high quality images for early diagnosis of children’s congenital heart diseases as well as cardiac diseases in adults, which helps decide suitable treatment for patients.

According to Assoc., Prof. Nguyen Quoc Dung, Head of the Imaging Diagnosis Department of the Vietnam Friendship Hospital, Revolution CT scanners bring many medical benefits. “The new technology reduces 82% dose of radiation compared to traditional methods and allows the assessment of both morphology and myocardial perfusion in one shot. Especially, the results help accurately assess the area of the brain that can help save patients caught by strokes and provide effective chemotherapy for cancer patients,” the doctor said.

Meanwhile, international experts in the field have also made assessment on the technology. According to Prof. Jean Louis Sablayrolles, high-speed snapshot, optimum image quality and low radiation dose are the three main benefits of this Revolution CT system.
