Since August 2024, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China (NATCM) have signed a number of Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation in various fields, including policy information sharing, human resource training, scientific research, and promotion of traditional medicine culture. This conference was a practical activity to realize their cooperation agreement.

At the event, several in-depth reports were presented. They included “China’s policies on integrating traditional and modern medicine and prospects for China -Vietnam traditional medicine cooperation,” “Initial cooperation results between Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine and Military Hospital 175,” “Specialized development orientation - inevitable path of traditional medicine,” “Integrating traditional and modern medicine in training at Military Institute of Traditional Medicine,” and “Sharing experience in learning and applying traditional medicine quintessence at Military Hospital 175.”
Through the event, both sides committed to expanding cooperation in training, research, multi-center clinical trials, academic exchanges, and technology transfer. This marked an important step in bringing traditional medicine closer to international standards while strengthening Vietnam - China friendship in healthcare.

Addressing the conference, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen emphasized that Vietnam and China have long-standing traditions in traditional medicine with many similarities. Traditional medicine, he said, is not only a method of healthcare but also part of cultural heritage that needs to be preserved, developed, and combined with modern medicine to meet growing healthcare demands.
Major General, Dr., People’s Doctor Tran Quoc Viet, Director of Military Hospital 175, affirmed that the conference was a scientific forum for experts to share experience, expand cooperation in training and technology transfer, and promote the integration of traditional and modern medicine in healthcare, especially as the world faces a lot of chronic diseases, population aging, and emerging epidemics.

On this occasion, the Center for Training in Acupuncture, Massage, and Acupressure at Military Hospital 175 was officially launched. The center was established in cooperation with Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, with support from the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and the NATCM.
The center is expected to become a prestigious hub for training, research, and advanced technology transfer, contributing to building high-quality human resources in traditional medicine. It will not only serve as an academic space to standardize technical procedures and training programs, but also as a platform for exchange and sharing among experts, instructors, healthcare cadres, trainees, and students.
