Troubled foreign sailors rescued at sea
PANO – All 18 crew members on a foreign vessel have been successfully rescued at sea by Vietnam’s joint forces.
Earlier, a fire broke out on the Sierra Leone-flagged bulk carrier Yong Shun on November 14 while the ship was about 4.5 nautical miles South of Vung Tau City in ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
Upon receiving the mayday signal, Coast Guard Region 3 sent ship CSB 4031 to conduct the search and rescue mission.
At the scene, ship CSB 4031 actively joined with other ships from the Border Guard Force and the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) Region 3 to get the fire under control and save the sailors.
There have been no reports of property losses yet.
