Fisherman Ngo Tan Loc taken ashore for treatment

Earlier, at 6:45 on March 23, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center received the news that an occupational accident occurred on trawler QNg 98888, owned by Ngo Thanh Phong in Quang Ngai while the ship was operating in the waters of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, off the southeast of Bom Bay Island some 90 nautical miles.

In particular, fisherman Ngo Tan Loc, born in 1983, fell from a height, resulting in multiple serious injuries, open wounds, heavy bleeding. The troubled fisherman also had symptoms of difficult breathing. His health condition worsened.

After the accident, captain of the trawler contacted the center for help.

Upon receiving the news, the center provided the trawler with the shortest route to the shore. At the same time, it connected the emergency center of Da Nang city with the trawler to give medical advice and guide the crew to stop the bleeding of the fisherman. Doctors diagnosed that fisherman Loc suffered from born fracture, perforated right iliac fossa, lost a lot of blood and concluded that the unconscious fisherman would die if he did not receive timely treatment.

In response to the situation, at 8:37 the same day, the center sent ship SAR 412 with a medical team and equipment of the emergency center of Da Nang city on board to rescue the troubled fisherman.

At 23:05 the same day, the rescue team approached trawler QNg 98888TS, gave first aid to the fisherman and move him to ship SAR 412 for care.

At 14:00 on March 24, ship SAR 412 reached the mainland. The fisherman was then handed over to the authorized agencies.
