Seminar talks women’s role in ASEAN Community building
Women’s role in the ASEAN Community building and post-COVID-19 recovery was highlighted at an international seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on March 11.
The seminar was jointly held by the Center for ASEAN Human Resources Research and Training at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University HCM City, the Vietnam-ASEAN Friendship Association (VAFA) and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) in HCM City.

In her remarks, VAFA President Phan Thi Hong Xuan stressed ASEAN leaders’ commitments to promoting gender equality and improving women’s role in the ASEAN Community building.
Sok Dareth, Cambodian Consul General in HCM City, described women’s role and contributions as the key to maintaining socio-economic development, peace and security in the region.
Meanwhile, Wong Chiann, Malaysian Consul General in HCM City, emphasized the 2025 Community Vision 2025 that targets an inclusive community and equal opportunities for all people, and protects and promotes women’s rights.
The participants also looked into women’s role in business and production, as well as opportunities and challenges facing them in economic integration and post-pandemic recovery.
