Over the past years, Ia Grai district has implemented many policies and measures to support socio-economic development in the areas, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of local people and building the great national unity.

In 2005, Chu Chieu Ha’s family, a Dao ethnic minority household, migrated from Bac Kan province to Ia Pech commune, Ia Grai district. Despite difficulties in the early days, his family owns a seven-hectare garden of durian, coffee, and pepper trees. In the two years of 2022 and 2023 alone, he pocketed more than VND 1 billion per year.

According to Chu Chieu Ha, in addition to the tireless efforts of his family, local authorities also helped them to develop economy. He was provided with favorable conditions to attend seminars and instructed on how to take care of plants to bring high benefits. He has since become a good farmer, and been leading a stable life.

In fact, over the past years, the living conditions of ethnic minority groups in Ia Grai district have improved. The whole district has eight out of 12 communes recognized as the new-style rural communes while 40 villages and hamlets are recognized as the new-style rural models by the district People’s Committee. Moreover, the average annual poverty reduction rate is over 2% while the average income per capita reaches VND 46.35 million per year. Especially, infrastructure for socio-economic development and defense and security assurance has been ensured, creating favorable conditions for people to travel, produce, and transport goods, among others.

According to Vice Chairman of Ia Grai District People’s Committee Dao Lan Hung, thanks to the care of the Party, State via many guidelines and policies on socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas, Ia Grai district is gradually developing. The district also promoted the role of the whole political system at the grassroots level, boosted dissemination work to raise public awareness, and mobilized all resources, to name but a few.

Puih Ty, Head of Bek village, Ia Ba commune, Ia Grai district, shared that in order to develop socio-economy in the ethnic minority areas, the ethnic minority groups should promote their responsibility towards their households and community.
