Program on swimming skills for children launched in Da Nang
PANO – The Disaster Prevention Community Fund on July 24 launched a program on teaching children how to swim at Tran Nhan Tong Primary School in Cam Le district, Da Nang city.

The program is in response to the Prime Minister’s appeal for promoting child drowning prevention.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Phan Dien, Chairman of the Board of Management of the Disaster Prevention Community Fund, called on benefactors at home and abroad, enterprises, and individuals to support the fund, so as to protect children and students from the dangers of natural disasters and drowning.
With the aim of speeding up the construction of swimming pools in schools and reducing drowning cases among children, the Disaster Prevention Community Fund set a target to build another 200 swimming pools in primary and secondary schools by 2025, he added.

At the ceremony, nearly twenty sponsors pledged to contribute more than VND 15 billion to support the Disaster Prevention Community Fund.
Since 2018, the Fund has implemented projects to build swimming pools and arch roofs in schools throughout the country. By 2022, the fund has raised over VND 71 billion and built 119 swimming pools in 36 provinces and cities.

The Disaster Prevention Community Fund (predecessor was the Central Highlands Community Fund for Disaster Prevention) was established in September 2008. Over the past time, the fund has mobilized benefactors and enterprises to contribute nearly VND 500 billion and then implemented various programs and projects to improve the local authorities’ capabilities in natural disaster prevention.
