Initiated in 2004 in response to the devastating tsunami, the program was founded with a humanitarian mission to provide disaster relief and assistance. Over the past two decades, it has grown into an annual multilateral initiative, with the participation of governments, armed forces,  governmental and non-governmental organizations, and communities across the region.

Quang Tri Province’s hosting of the program is an affirmation of the province’s role and standing in international integration, and a tribute to the land that has strongly risen from the ravages of war. Quang Tri now stands as a symbol of Vietnam’s aspiration for peace, and a destination for global peace-loving people.

As planned, in nearly two weeks, the Pacific Partnership 2025 (PP25) will have a series of practical activities, including free medical examination and treatment, medical expertise training, the repair and construction of public facilities, disaster response training, unexploded ordnance clearance, and application of modern technology to ensuring people’s safety and higher quality of life.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Tri province Hoang Nam affirmed that the program is more than an annual international cooperation activity. It conveys a strong message that “from a painful past, we jointly cultivate peace; from shared challenges, we collectively strive for development.”
