Over 60,000 youths attend summer volunteer campaign
The 24th Mua he xanh (Green Summer) Volunteer Campaign kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on July 16, attracting over 60,000 youngsters.
The campaign will take place from July 16 to August 13 in 24 districts of Ho Chi Minh City and some provinces in the Central Highlands, Southeastern and Southwestern regions, Tho Chu island in Kien Giang province as well as the neighboring country of Laos.
This year’s campaign focuses on building civilized lifestyle in urban areas and new-style rural areas, protecting the environment and responding to climate change.
Volunteers will also participate in other activities such as transferring agriculture technology, supporting children, and setting up teams to tackle local socio-economic issues, among others.
The month-long campaign is expected to build 50 civilized alleys and five clean and safe apartment areas, repair at least 50 charity houses and upgrade 40 kilometers of rural road and five kilometers of urban road.
Additionally, about 10 rural cement bridges and seven canals are hoped to be upgraded and six water filtering works constructed during the event.
