PANO – Officials from the National Border Committee, under the Foreign Ministry, visited orphans and homeless children at the Bo De Pagoda, Long Bien, Hanoi, on May 31st, to mark  Children’s International Day, June 1st .

Hundreds of presents, including sleeping mats, sweets and biscuits, dry food, and medicine, were delivered to help the pagoda take care of children in better conditions. According to the Venerable Thich Dam Lan, the chief monk of the Bo De Pagoda, they are taking care of 98 children, including 47 infants, aged from 4 days old to 36 months old.

At the moment, the Bo De Pagoda is relying on a tight budget, contributed by charitable visitors, to provide care to children. The infants are now taken care of in a space of 40m2, with each room for 6-10 children, and each bed for 2-3 children.
