More sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers found and repatriated
PANO – Dien Bien province held a memorial service on January 12 for nine sets of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers who sacrificed their lives while serving international obligations in Laos.
These sets of remains were found by the search team of Military Region 2 under the support of Laos’ localities. They were reburied in Tong Khao Martyrs’ Cemetery in Thanh Nua commune, Dien Bien district.
At the ceremony, leaders and people in Dien Bien laid wreaths and offered incense in commemoration of contributions of the fallen soldiers to the independence of the two countries.
The same day, thanks to information from local people, search team 584 of Quang Tri Provincial Military Command gathered 11 sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers and their belongings, such as rubber sandals, purses, belts, mirrors and combs in Tan My village, Hai Le commune, Quang Tri town, Quang Tri province.
