More new houses to support impoverished people
PANO – A delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), led by VFF President Tran Thanh Man, on January 9 visited, presented gifts and donated money to a house-building program for local residents affected by natural disasters in Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province.
Last year, Yen Bai faced a barrage of, in total, 21 natural disasters, including two flash floods in Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau and Van Chan districts, and Nghia Lo town, which, it is estimated, caused damage of up to VND 1,855 billion.

Statistics show that these disasters left 86 people dead, missing or injured, and 3,471 houses either collapsed or completely swept away, and over 2,814 hectares of rice paddies and vegetables damaged or lost.
Speaking at the event, the VFF President expressed his sympathy for the losses of locals, especially in the eastern districts of the province. He also urged local authorities to allocate the funding to deserving people and quickly stabilize local production.
He asked the Fatherland Front of Yen Bai to mobilize the human resources for the construction of houses for people that lost their homes during floods and take care of disadvantaged households, hopefully helping them enjoy the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday despite their recent tribulations.
On the occasion, Man presented gifts worth VND 2 billion to build homes for households affected by natural disasters.
