Deputy Chairman Le Van Su emphasized that the responsibility and prompt actions of the fishermen and border guards not only reflect the noble traditions of the Vietnamese people but also help project a positive image of the Ca Mau Border Guard and the local community. Their example serves to inspire other fishermen, raising awareness of maritime rescue and safety at sea. Such efforts also contribute to people-to-people diplomacy and to maintaining security and order in Vietnam’s maritime jurisdiction.
On this occasion, the Ca Mau Provincial People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to one group and eight individuals in recognition of their dedication and contributions to national sovereignty and border security, in close connection with humanitarian and maritime rescue missions.
Earlier, around 2:00 p.m. on June 8, Captain Phil of Fishing Vessel CM 91753 TS contacted the boat owner, Mr. Sin, via Icom radio to report that at approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 7, while fishing about 70 nautical miles southeast of Hon Khoai Island (within Vietnamese waters), their vessel had spotted a drifting raft carrying eight foreign nationals (six men and two women) signaling for help.
