Hanoi youths join hands in “Green Sunday” campaign
PANO - On May 25, the Hanoi Youth Union organized the second “Green Sunday” campaign in Hoai Duc District, along with various activities to promote environmental sanitation, prevent plastic waste, and respond to World Environment Day (June 5).
During the event, the Hanoi Youth Union launched three specialized volunteer teams: “Green Volunteer Force - Clean from Alley to Street,” “Youth in Action - Say No to Plastic Waste,” and “Green Summer Volunteer.”
As part of the program, the organizing panel distributed 50 trash sorting bins, reusable plastic shopping baskets as alternatives to single-use plastic bags, and biodegradable trash bags to residential areas and representatives of the Women’s Union in the district.

Following the launching ceremony, the Hanoi Youth Union carried out practical activities, including environmental clean-ups at dike roofs, martyrs’ cemeteries, and a football field in Duong Lieu Commune; removing illegal advertising boards in Moi and Me Tao hamlets; and raising awareness about plastic waste reduction and waste sorting in residential areas and local markets. More than 250 Youth Union members participated in these activities.
In parallel with the city-level program, all 30 district-, town-, and city-level Youth Unions and 100% of school Youth Unions simultaneously launched campaigns in their respective localities, agencies, and units, with more than 10,000 Union members and young people participating.
Alongside activities in response to World Environment Day and to promote youth engagement in social welfare, the Hanoi Youth Union and the City Youth Federation collaborated with the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association and the Hanoi Young Physicians’ Association. With support from the pharmacy network and FPT Long Chau Vaccination Center, they organized the 2025 campaign “Young Physicians Following Uncle Ho’s Teachings – Hanoi Youth Volunteering for Community Health,” with the theme “Young Physicians Taking the Initiative, Striving in the Digital Age.”
