Groundbreaking ceremony held for Bao Loc – Lien Khuong expressway project

The Bao Loc – Lien Khuong Expressway is a crucial section of the Dau Giay – Lien Khuong Expressway, one of the 10 national expressways in the Southern region approved by the Prime Minister. The project has a total length of 73.62 kilometers, starting from Loc Phat Ward, Bao Loc City and ending at the junction with the Lien Khuong – Prenn Expressway leading to Da Lat City.

The expressway will be developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, specifically using a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract, with the total investment in phase 1 estimated at VND 17.718 trillion. The expressway is designed with four lanes; in phase 1, the roadbed width will be 17 meters (for four restricted lanes, designed for the speed of 80 km/h). Upon completion, it will be expanded to a 24.75-meter-wide roadbed, serving as a fully developed expressway with a design speed of 100 km/h.

The project is expected to be completed and put into operation at the fourth quarter of 2027, helping reduce travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat from six hours to only three hours.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam has clearly identified infrastructure development as one of the three strategic breakthroughs. The Bao Loc – Lien Khuong Expressway is a strategic segment that will help complete the entire over-200-kilometer Dau Giay – Lien Khuong Expressway, forming a modern and seamless transport corridor that connects the Southern key economic region with the Central Highlands. It is expected to serve as a strong economic lever, unlocking new potential for Lam Dong and neighboring provinces.

To ensure the project progresses on time and meets standards, the Deputy Prime Minister requested that the Lam Dong provincial authorities take strong, decisive measures to direct investors, supervisory consultants, and contractors to maximize their sense of responsibility in implementing the project. He also emphasized the need to complete land clearance, ensure proper resettlement, and support people in the project area in stabilizing their livelihoods. Investors were urged to mobilize all financial, human, and technological resources to complete the project within the committed timeframe of 30 months.
