The MBE is one of the prestigious honors conferred annually by the British Royal Family for significant service to culture, education, society and sustainable development. For non-U.K. nationals, the honor represents national-level recognition for sustained contributions with positive and long-term impact on communities.

The awarding of the MBE to a Vietnamese citizen is a symbolic milestone, reflecting the depth of bilateral cooperation and the trust and close ties between the two countries in human development.

The award ceremony was held in a warm and intimate atmosphere at the residence of the British Ambassador to Vietnam.

On this occasion, Chief Executive of the British Council Scott McDonald emphasized that this recognition not only honors the efforts and dedication of Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Bao, but also reflects more than 30 years of the British Council’s close engagement and trusted, long-term partnership between the U.K. and Vietnam.

In his speech, Director of the British Council in Vietnam James Shipton spoke highly of Ms. Bao’s outstanding leadership with dynamism, creativity and a strong commitment to generating positive impact for the community. He added that her guidance and sustained contributions have played a crucial role in initiating and implementing numerous large-scale, high-impact projects in Vietnam, delivering tangible benefits for partners, learners and diverse community groups. These contributions have not only create lasting value but also clearly reflected the British Council’s core values of professionalism, integrity, equality and diversity.
