First private hospital of Vietnam successfully performs liver transplant
PANO - Vinmec International Hospital, the first private hospital in Vietnam, has successfully conducted a liver transplant from a living donor. This is also the latest of the 20 living-donor liver transplants that have been successfully carried out nationwide since 2004.

The surgical staff included doctors from Vinmec Hospital and experts from the Republic of Korea. Two weeks after the operation, the donor’s liver functioned normally with decreased liver enzymes and improved bile secretion while the recipient’s health is also stable.
The success of Vinmec has marked a remarkable development of the private healthcare system. Vinmec is scheduled to carry out 20 to 30 liver transplants, 80-100 kidney transplants, hundreds of stem cell transplants each year, and is developing procedures for organ transplants from brain-dead donors to prepare for heart, lung and pancreas transplants in the near future.
