ASEAN village opened in HCM City
PANO – The Department of External affairs in Ho Chi Minh City, in association with the Consulates-General of ASEAN member countries, on September 21 opened an ASEAN Village event at 23-9 Park.
This event, the first of its kind is to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN and 22 years of Vietnam’s accession to the bloc, as well as create a cultural play-ground to promote trade and tourism of ten ASEAN countries, while contributing to enhancing the ASEAN community’s image with the public and visitors.
Speaking at the opening of the 4-day event, Standing Vice-Chairman of Ho Chi Minh People's Committee, Le Thanh Liem, emphasized that as part of ASEAN community, Vietnam-Ho Chi Minh City would make efforts to implement cooperation programs, especially cultural exchange programs so as to promote mutual understanding and strengthening economic exchanges, thus actively contributing to implementing the ASEAN initiatives.
The ASEAN village comprises 5 locations with various activities such exhibitions, art performances, exchange activities, introducing culture and cuisine as well as commercial products of Vietnam and other ASEAN countries and promoting tourism programs.
