PANO – The Department of Policy of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army on July 8th met with 28 heroic Vietnamese mothers from Long An province on their visit to Hanoi.
At the meeting, the department’s representative conveyed the Defence Ministry leaders’ inquiry for their health and presented the Ministry’s gifts to the delegates and briefed them on outstanding gratitude activities undertaken by troops from the whole army. Accordingly, over the past time, the ministry studied thoroughly and made considerable recommendations to issuing guidelines and policies for revolution contributors, conducted searches for remains of fallen soldiers, built gratitude houses, and helped local people overcome natural disaster consequences, eliminate hunger, and reduce poverty.
Since 2010, the army has built nearly 7,000 gratitude houses, contributed about VND 168 billion to the Gratitude Fund, taken care of more than 1,400 heroic Vietnamese mothers, provided jobs for over 250 children of war invalids and sick soldiers, and presented medical equipment to convalescent centres.
Addressing the ceremony, Director of the Department of Policy Major General Tran Van Minh reaffirmed the delegates’ great contributions which are recognized by the Party, State, and people. They have set bright examples for young generations to follow.
