The information was announced by the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Vietnam MRCC) on July 11. The center also said that it is working with Cape Town Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center to support the distressed Vietnamese fishermen. The Vietnam MRCC also informed the Consular Department under the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam Embassy in South Africa about the incident and was cooperating with relevant agencies to give legal and procedural assistance to the four Vietnamese citizens.

Earlier, the Taiwanese ship with 30 fishermen on board sunk 344 nautical miles to the East of Richards Bay, South Africa. The distressed were rescued and taken to Durban Port by sailors on Singapore’s EVER DIADEM ship and Marshall Islands’ SBI ANTARES ship.
