PANO – The atmosphere in Studio S9 of Vietnam Television, where the TV programme “Truong Sa (Spratlys) Spring 2013” broadcast live took place, was so warm despite the cold of Hanoi’s winter. In the center of the Capital City, audiences could feel spring’s atmosphere in Truong Sa via dances, songs and direct exchanges with troops and people living in Truong Sa, the Fatherland’s farthest place.
The programme “Truong Sa Spring 2013” was held on the evening of January 5th by the Communist Party Electronic Newspaper, Vietnam Television Magazine and Press Department under the instruction of the Central Commission of Information and Education, Ministry of Information and Communication and Vietnam Television.
The programme aimed to honour the soldiers, who protect national sovereignty over the Fatherland’s seas and islands day and night on remote islands or at high sea, as well as highlight close ties between people and military.
Present at the programme were Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu; Member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Chief of the Central Commission of Information and Education Vu Ngoc Hoang; and other civilian and defence top officials.
According to Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television Lam Kiet Tuong, the programme “Truogn Sa Spring 2013” was the event opening a series of various activities in 2013 to direct people’s hearts towards the national dear seas and islands of Truong Sa as well as pay gratitude to heroic martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the Fatherland.
Participants had a good opportunity to listen to numerous songs about Truong Sa and national seas and islands, and saw pictures of Truong Sa, images of Truong Sa soldiers and people and the national sovereignty landmarks topped by national flags waving in winds, which firmly stood proudly in the sea.
Many audiences burst into tears when seeing a report about martyr Le Van Xanh, who heroically laid down his life in Truong Sa. His courage and heroism in the past symbolizes today’s Truong Sa soldiers’ will and resolve to overcome difficulties and to firmly protect the Fatherland’s seas and islands.
Although Truong Sa may be geologically far from the mainland, Truong Sa is a dear place in Vietnamese people’s hearts.
During an exchange, Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy, Rear Admiral Nguyen Ngoc Tuong told several stories about Truong Sa, the soldiers and people living in the islands. He also said that life in Truong Sa has been less difficult thanks to the care and support from the Party, State, Defence and all Vietnamese people and defence and security has been consolidated further.
According to the organizing, the programme served as a sentimental bridge between the islands and mainland and brought great love from the mainland to the soldiers and people in Truong Sa.
