PANO – The Tay Ninh provincial People’s Committee on March 28th held a conference to review ten years of the implementation of the movement to mobilize locals to manage the borderline and border markers, and ensure public order in border areas.

The conference affirmed that the movement has been widely carried out in border districts and communes of the province with good results, making contributions to connecting the strength of the whole political system and people in the localities for national border construction and defense.

The provincial People’s Committee granting certificates of merit to groups and invidiuals who have made great contributions to the effective implementation of the movement.

Particularly, locals in Tay Ninh province’s border areas carried out a number of communication drives to help locals understand the importance of borderline management and encourage them to make their own contributions to the work. 

Thanks to their efforts, 516 households registered to protect 93 border markers and 234km of borderline, and 52 border hamlets in five districts took part in self-managing border areas.

Over the past ten years, troops and locals have contributed thousands of working days to clean up around 4,500km of borderline and 93 border markers, and conducted more than 15,700 border patrols with the participation of around 88,000 people to ensure security in the areas.

At the conference, the provincial People’s Committee granted certificates of merit to 26 groups and 77 troops and locals from five border districts and relevant agencies who have made great contributions to the effective implementation of the movement.
